Is PR the same as advertising?
No. Advertising is paid-for space or time in the media to convey a message, while media relations will only endeavour to inform or persuade a journalist that a story is worth publishing because it will interest the readers. Public relationsis especially effective as a promotional tool because people (e.g. prospective customers) give more credibility to what they read or hear when it comes in the form of third party endorsements.
